06 apr Conversion tank pit 2A
In January 2016, Koole started the conversion of the former tank pit 2A to tank pit 16, 17 and 18 at Koole Tankstorage Pernis. The project involved the replacement of 15.000m3 of carbon steel tanks with 53.000m3 stainless steel tanks in 3 tank pits with concrete flooring. The tank pits are fully automated and the flexible infrastructure of the (product group dedicated) lines and pumps makes it possible to discharge from and load to each jetty at the terminal at steady high pump speeds. In addition, each tank is provided with its own pump and dedicated loading line to the truck loading bay, which guarantees an efficient handling of truck loadings. To maintain the quality of the stored products Koole uses stainless steel tanks, a nitrogen system and a fully automated heating system, enabling us to keep products at a temperature up to .. degrees in a fully controlled way. The tanks are designed to store many different products, including, but not limited to oleo chemicals, easy chemicals and GRP III and IV base oils. In addition, tank pit 18 is adapted to store products with a density up to 1,9, such as acids. Tank pit 18 is currently already in operation and we expect to have tank pit 16 and 17 operational in the course of the 2nd quarter 2017.
